Job Description:

The Opportunity

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate associate software engineer to support our efforts in SEL product driver support! In this role, you will experience both agile software development and testing. The majority of software development is being done in xml, but experience in C#, xpath, and some understanding of automated unit testing and writing automated unit tests will make you a stronger candidate! If you join our team, you will work with a small, collaborative 4-person group within our larger Research and Development division. You will have the opportunity to continue to build new tools to assist in software development while maintaining the highest quality and efficiency.

ASSOCIATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement C# applications
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot products and systems
  • Participate in preparation of product specifications
  • Prepare and maintain design and test documentation
  • Follow and improve processes
  • Participate in industry technical meetings and conferences as needed to meet operational and strategic plans.
  • If experienced, responsibilities may also include:
  • Leading implementation of software.
  • Leading the development of designs and test documentations
  • Leading development and improvement of processes
  • Mentoring Associate Engineers or technicians.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, related degree or relevant experience.
  • 2 years in development experience using C# and .Net
  • Experience or study in object oriented design and/or object oriented languages.
  • Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience with development in C#.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in object oriented design and/or object oriented languages.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Experience using Design Patterns
  • Experience using XML and LINQ
