Position Specific Description

They are helping shape our company and how our customers see us.  With eight nuclear reactors at five plant sites around the country, today, FPL’s nuclear fleet is one of the largest in the nation. Currently, we are seeking a Senior Chemistry Technician to join our team at our Turkey Point Nuclear Plant.  This dual unit nuclear facility, located just south of Miami, FL. produces 100% carbon-free energy, enough to power the annual usage of more than 900,000 homes.  In addition to the responsibilities below, in this role you will also be responsible for evaluating data, initiating action, and providing recommendations for plant operation to assure continued nuclear safety and long-term asset preservation.  You will also use and maintain complex analytical instrumentation; while verifying precision and accuracy using quality assurance methods.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an Associate’s degree with college level chemistry and physics coursework.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under limited supervision:

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses including sampling, in-service testing or testing and measuring of radioactive contaminants and chemical properties of various liquid and gaseous streams in nuclear plant systems and components
  • Uses safe laboratory practices and ensures compliance with regulations, procedures and policies in conduct of daily work
  • Maintains records, evaluates trends and develops new methods
  • Trains and provides guidance to new or less experienced technicians
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree
