Nuclear Environmental Coordinator - Senior Environmental Specialist – Principal Environmental Specialist
In this position you will administer, coordinate, oversee, and implement environmental compliance programs and processes for the facility/operating organization in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements, as well as Company policies and procedures.
You will focus on the Salem and Hope Creek air compliance programs and will support other media [water, waste, land use, station compliance] as needed in direct support and reporting to the Environmental Compliance Manager and supporting the site implementation of assigned environmental programs. Ensuring environmental compliance to avoid fines, penalties and other legal liability, as well as damage to the company’s reputation. You will be leading and participating on environmental teams in response to regulatory compliance issues. Work activities will include implementation, modification, reporting, and updating standardized environmental programs to address unique and evolving facility operational conditions and routine and non-routine activities and incidents. Providing environmental orientation and training as appropriate.
Responsibilities include: Planning, directing, and implementing environmental projects and programs for Nuclear generating station; serving as the primary interface with environmental regulatory agencies regarding station permitting and reporting issues; preparing procedures, reports and correspondence relating to compliance with all applicable environmental regulatory requirements; overseeing the cost, completeness and quality of environmental activities at the generating stations; and assessing the impact of new regulatory requirements. Providing training to employees on new and emerging environmental requirements, and providing coaching as needed to address areas of concern.
Identifying and evaluating compliance trends and recommending corrective actions or system improvements to provide assurance that environmental requirements are met on an ongoing basis. Continuously seek environmental strategies to maximize the value of the generating assets while assuring compliance. This specific position requires an extensive background and demonstrated experience in NJ specific air compliance reporting.
Required: BS in science or engineering or equivalent education and experience. Knowledge of Environmental regulatory requirements and effective ability to interact with regulatory agencies with an emphasis on air compliance, water compliance, facility operations, and environmental scientific principles An extensive background and demonstrated experience in NJ specific air compliance reporting. Demonstrated experience in managing and resolving complex technical environmental issues. Team player, self-starter. Strong technical writing and attention to detail. Valid driver’s license, ability to meet PSEG Nuclear requirements for unescorted access to PSEG Nuclear facilities.
Desired: Ability to work with and positively influence teams, collaboration, negotiation and communication skills, and ability to champion growth of skills of self and others through effective leadership of environmental programs is necessary. Experience with other regulatory requirements. Some experience in information management systems and applications.
This is a multi-level position. Successful candidates will be selected based on evaluated education/experience, etc.
