POWER SERVICES COORDINATOR

The state’s largest municipal electric power supplier seeks a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual familiar with the utility industry to join its Operations team. Responsibilities include forecasting/scheduling/monitoring of electric loads, communication with various power entities, and accurate record keeping. Very strong analytical skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.  Normal work hours will be based upon rotating 12-hour work shifts, including nights and weekends.

The Illinois Municipal Electric Agency is responsible for wholesale electric supply to 32 municipal electric utilities through the State.  IMEA’s state of the art headquarters are located in Springfield, Illinois, has a peak load of nearly 1,000 MW and an annual budget of over $350M per year.

Duties

  1. Call generation resources as required taking into account start up and shut down requirements.
  2. Prepare, and when necessary, revise daily schedules for power and transmission services.
  3. Assist Financial Settlements Analyst in collection of data for daily settlement statements.
  4. Responsible for daily tasks getting completed and accounted for.
  5. Coordinate power outages and work affecting IMEA Member power supply with utilities.
  6. Coordinate operation of IMEA members’ generating resources.
  7. Monitor SCADA system.
  8. Communicate with members, other IMEA staff and management, and other utilities as necessary as to changes in system conditions or requirements.
  9. Assist in the preparation of reports.
  10. Participates in ‘first call’ duty.
  11. Other duties as assigned to facilitate the effective operation of the IMEA.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Basic computer skills to include use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and Internet. 
  3. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively on routine matters with IMEA staff and members.
  4. Basic analytical and mathematical skills to include algebra.
  5. Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Ability to work well in a team oriented environment.
  6. Ability to become certified by regional transmission organizations, as may be required.
