Power System Engineer

Hourly Rate: ($34.40 – $44.60)

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience related to engineering.


Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • None.

Power System Engineer Senior

Hourly Rate: ($38.60 – $51.01)

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in engineering, plus seven (7) years of experience related to engineering.


Licenses and Certifications Required:

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, the ability to obtain a Texas PE license within one (1) year of employment. Notes to Applicants

This position may be filled at either level or both based on the final candidate pool.

This position serves as a subject matter expert in the Project Management team supporting Transmission and Substation Engineering and Construction. Project Management team is responsible for managing and coordinating the Capital Improvement Project portfolio for the organization.

The duties and responsibilities of this position title include:
1. Manage and coordinate multiple programs/projects and ensure compliance with project specifications and requirements.
2. Meet with engineering, construction and maintenance personnel to develop project scope, budget and schedules. Identify project/plan related issues, investigate, analyze, and develop corrective actions to be taken, provide recommendation(s) of changes, draft reports, and make presentations, as needed.
3. Meet with neighborhoods, citizens and other groups and organizations both internal and external to Austin Energy during and after hours as required for project execution.
4. Assist in developing, managing and submitting proposed budget forecast planning for short- and long-term planning.
5. Implement engineering studies when needed by applying technical knowledge of engineering discipline.
6. Monitor projects for regulatory compliance by providing consultant and determinations in matters involving application and interpretation.

Hours

Regular Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
This position will require to work additional hours outside of the regular work schedule as it pertains to city business for after-hours presentations and meetings, etc.

7. Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft products including Word, Power Point, and Excel
