The Project Engineer II—Automation at SEL ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. (SEL-ES) is required to possess, understand, and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of power system automation and related SEL products (involving software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, relevant industry protocols—such as IEC-61850, DNP, and Modbus—Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and industry SCADA practices). The incumbent will be expected to apply the principles of electrical engineering and: (i) lead in training and assisting customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation systems; (ii) lead in assigning, completing and implementing assigned work within agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget to a high level of quality and safety; (iii) lead in the creation and finalization of customer approved functional design specifications; (iv) assist in the identification, preparation, and presentation of successful proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems; (v) provide support for other company marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities; (vi) mentor and develop subordinate staff; and (vii) continuously identify, measure, and improve company engineering processes.
These full-time positions will be based out of SEL-ES’s headquarters in Pullman, Washington. However, because SEL-ES has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a short-term basis be deployed to various customer sites.
