Supervisor’s Title: Supervisor, Tech Services (Meter Services)
Location: North Fort Myers, FL
Work hours: M-F, 7:00am- 4:00pm with occasional call-out

Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing technical duties and the direct supervision of personnel in the Meter Services department. Personnel may include both technical, non-technical, bargaining unit, and non-bargaining unit individuals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily activities of the meter test shop.
  • Generate summary reports of meter shop activities or for specific meters as required.
  • Perform efficient scheduling and routing of Journeyman Meterman/woman Work Requests.
  • Coordinate dielectric testing of equipment.
  • Coordinate TV/RFI investigations and mitigation.
  • Retrieve and provide summary reports of billing data from metering points.
  • Ensure availability and accuracy of test equipment.
  • Coordinate investigations of service irregularities (high bill, voltage, flicker, etc).
  • Coordinate commercial and residential meter test program.
  • Maintain departmental databases.
  • Search in or ping meters as required.
  • Provide support for meter tamper investigations.
  • Generate internal and external correspondence as required.
  • Maintain meter services calendar.
  • Develop and produce departmental metrics as required.
  • Perform data entry, report development, and analysis with Financial System software as required.
  • Perform as departmental super-user of software products, as needed.
  • Program meters and program test equipment as required.
  • Create documentation and perform process improvement analysis on departmental activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements Associate Supervisor (ET5)
Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in electrical engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience (2 years of additional *relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of college)
  • 3 years of *relevant work experience
  • At least 1-2 years progressively responsible experience
  • in a leadership role
  • Ability to create effective working relationships with employees and customers.
  • *Relevant work involves experience in electric utility system design, operation or maintenance.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or related field
  • 2 years supervisory experience
  • Advanced training in meter programming, testing, and communications
  • Process Improvement experience
  • Knowledge of the theory, operation and application of different types of electric meters.
  • Knowledge in the programming, testing, repairing and calibration of electric meters
  • Journeyman Meterman, Lineman or Electrician

Supervisor I (ET6)
Required Qualifications:

  • Meet all requirements of Associate Supervisor position.
  • Two (2) years’ experience at Associate Supervisor level or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, business or related field (2 years of additional *relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of college)
  • Advanced knowledge of electric metering concepts and practices.
  • Advanced abilities to operate, troubleshoot, and train others with relevant software packages
  • Advanced training in meter programming, testing, and communications
  • *Relevant work involves experience in electric utility system design, operation or maintenance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, business, or related field
  • Process improvement certification
