Austin Energy operates as a vertically integrated electric utility within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market.  Our diverse power generation portfolio includes nuclear, coal, natural gas, biomass, wind and solar.  Austin Energy is pursuing a goal of 65 percent renewable energy by 2027.  To further support our environmental goals, Austin Energy’s Customer Energy Solutions organization develops and manages all customer-facing sustainable energy solutions – including award winning demand side management and solar programs, subscription based renewable offerings, globally recognized green building programs and commercial key account service.  Additionally, the organization provides business intelligence services to Austin Energy and other City departments.

As a commitment to quality for our customers, Austin Energy was the first ISO 9001-certified electric utility in the United States.  Austin Energy operates over 623 miles of transmission line, 75 substations, more than 11,000 miles of distribution line and a significant underground downtown network. Our reliability ranks among the best in the industry.  Our Grid Modernization initiative is developing an innovative two-way grid utilizing customer and company infrastructure to deliver superior reliability and customer experience.

Our Customer Care operation is working to deliver new heights in customer satisfaction through increased collaboration, varied and high quality services, programs, and delivery methods with competitive pricing while continuing to climb the JD Powers survey.  Austin Energy operates the Utility Contact Center for all City of Austin utilities as well as the 311 Call Center for the City of Austin.  Known for our compassionate care of our customers, Austin Energy works closely with our population to ensure affordable service.
