NextEra Energy Resources is one of the largest wholesale generators of electric power and renewable energy from the wind and sun in North America.

 

Position Specific Description

This job is responsible for ensuring the completion of assigned, complex, short-term and long-term Accounts Payable (AP) projects on-time and within budget. Leaders in this role work cooperatively with business unit teams to implement AP projects and oversee ongoing AP processes.  This position will manage AP staff who process trade, intercompany and expense accounts and oversee vendor set-up and maintenance.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develops detailed project plans to centralize and optimize AP, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
• Works cooperatively with business unit teams to integrate and administer all activities to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction
• Oversees AP processes to provide timely and accurate processing of invoices and corresponding disbursements by NextEra
• Coordinate cash flow requirements to optimize early pay discounts
• Ensure proper reconciliations of subsidiary ledger balances to SAP
• Monitor and ensure SOX compliance for functional area of responsibility
• Manages a team
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

 

Systems experience a plus:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
•   Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
•   Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
•   Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
•   Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 8+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's Degree
