Agile Development Lead - It Apo (20141)

The Agile Development Lead will lead the delivery of projects following the Mode 2 bimodal methodology within the IT APO group. The position will, manage, direct and provide design and process oversight for product delivery within the Mode 2 project portfolio from business valuation (BVS) to production warranty and support. The manager will provide project management, strategic thinking and leadership to the APO team.  The team will use accelerated delivery techniques including AGILE to innovate and deploy products in rapidly emergent technology and business needs areas including cloud solutions and platforms. The position will manage matrixed and direct report resources in cross IT technology areas (Ops, AS, Infrastructure etc) including managing / providing performance feedback on direct report resources and cross functional team resources. The team will develop the necessary processes required to support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) approach for systems and solutions with a focus on speed of delivery. The manager will work with existing IT departments to integrate the rapid development and deployment accountabilities into existing processes including: governance, architecture, funding, development practices and business engagement activities.


The manager shall be well versed in advanced development techniques, accelerated business solution innovation and change. The manager shall be able to foster individual and collective creativity allowing the team to create, develop and implement processes and procedures for ideation, prototyping and production. The position shall balance risks against the potential rewards of their teams' work, based on organizational tolerance for risk and organizational objectives, as well as other factors. The position will serve as creative and visionary lead of the APO Agile Development team in rapid development and deployment, and have the ability to see opportunities and the business acumen to shepherd ideas from the visionary stage through to production.


Responsibilities include:


  • Creating, developing and managing a team who find and fund exciting concepts through an early-stage development process
  • Leading the team to new areas and opportunities for which there is not yet a map (requires curiosity to pursue the interesting without getting distracted by the unimportant)
  • Driving productive plans for products to meet rapidly emerging business needs. The position requires a need to be comfortable with ambiguity and thrive on the pace and demands for change
  • Fostering the creation and realization of  new technology opportunities, new directions for the enterprise, and positive futures for IT’s customers

Required Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or 3-4 years of related / demonstrated experience in the field of innovative and rapid solutions development and deployment. Experience in in developing, implementing, managing and directing cross functional development teams and or large scale information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be a plus.
  • Additional experience in the following application solution delivery / management or consulting areas will be considered and included as part of the candidate assessment:
  • Evaluating new technologies, applications or platforms and developing proof of concepts.
  • Experience working in a business relationship role, working with clients (internal and or external).
  • Experience in developing and or deploying  cloud  Saas and Paas solutions
  • Experience as a project team member and leadership / project management position.
  • General understanding and experience of traditional and agile project management methodologies, requirements management, quality assurance and IT processes. 
  • Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate, lead and influence appropriately at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent leadership and consultative skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in AGILE, KABAN or similar development technologies and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the ability to understand wide-ranging, out-of-the-ordinary, technical and business proposals in depth.
  • Demonstrated ability and eagerness to take on new challenges in uncharted areas or areas of inexperience.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating brainstorming workshops to bring new ideas to fruition.
  • Experience in working on novel projects and proven ability to bring ideas from conception to completion.
  • Experience in showing commercial sense, contract structuring and negotiation, and business strategy development
  • Proven experiences in helping and motivating other people turn their ideas into reality; work with multiple fluid team structures which requires trust and integrity. Takes initiative to develop new skills amongst his team
  • Demonstrated experience in driving and motivating innovative solutions forward. Considered a mover and shaker that always delivers.
  • In-depth understanding of Continuous Delivery DevOps concepts and hands-on experience on managing product release cycles.
  • Experience in automation and management of both on-premises infrastructure and applications as well as cloud hosted.
  •  Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service capabilities including virtual networks, virtual machines, cloud services, web sites, data services, IoT services, etc.
  • Ability / Experience with a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Ability to manage code and scripting activities including frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
  • Strong grasp of automation tools
  • Data management skills and experience
  • A strong focus on business outcomes
  • Ability to set and prioritize deadlines and multiple tasks of varying complexity with conflicting priorities, based on customer and business need

    Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:


  • Degree in Information Systems.
  • Certifications in technical specialties such as AGILE, AGILE Scrum Master, Project Management Professional (PMP), and organization change management (e.g. Lean Six Sigma), business process modeling / re-engineering will be considered during the candidate assessment.
  • Strong situational analysis and decision making skills and experience in recognizing structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies.
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure technologies such as: Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, etc.), Datacenter Facilities, Business Continuity, Networking and Telecommunications Technologies (LAN, WAN, SCADA, Fiber, Wireless, VOIP, Microwave, Radios), Platform and Storage Technologies (UNIX, Windows, LINUX, SAN), System Management and Monitoring Tools, Unified Communications, Directory Services, Office Productivity Tools, Enterprise Content Management (SharePoint, FileNet, McLaren, Team Center), Big Data (HANA, Greenplum, Hadoop, etc.).
