Application Developer/Support Analyst

Job Brief

Recruiting for an Application Developer/Support Analyst to work on the Business System Applications (BSA) Team.  BSA supports Transmission Generation Operations and other groups within Power Systems. The focus of their work is the Power System energy scheduling and tracking applications. These applications integrate with the Energy Management System and provide System Operations with automated tools to assist with energy scheduling tasks.  The position requires both application development and support expertise with responsibilities divided at approximately 50 % between application support and application development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs IT work in Software Development, and 24x7 application support
  • Performs as a Project Leader and is responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring projects
  • Work collaboratively with departments to effectively communicate progress and performance
  • Identify trends and root causes of challenges, determines solutions, and makes recommendations for management consideration
  • Applies SRP and IT processes/methods, practices and techniques to deliver solutions


Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.


Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three-years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Networking (TCP/IP, routing, load balancers (F5), wireshark)

Working knowledge with .NET Frameworks 3.5, 4, and 4.5; LINQ to Objects, SQL, and XML; Ajax and Ajax Control Toolkit.

Strong experience with UI design and development.

Working with XML and using common libraries such as JQuery;

Developing responsive sites with Twitter Bootstrap 2.3.2 and 3.1.1 and LESS, and utilizing the Visual Studio .NET environment.

Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, C#, JSON and XML.

Moderate experience in using or a strong familiarity with Entity Framework and ASP.NET, MVC.

Ability to write valid code aligned with W3C standards; write and maintain technical documentation, accurately estimate workload, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Moderate experience using SOAP/REST for integrations between systems,

Moderate experience/knowledge using queuing technologies.

Moderate or strong familiarity Windows Server, SQL Server, Networking (monitoring/behavior/basic troubleshooting).

Strong design and application architecture skills with a focus on high availability and redundancy.
