Education and/or Equivalent Experience:


  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or in a field related to the job, plus five (5) years of experience in occupational health and safety programs, including two (2) years of experience which were in a supervisory/managerial capacity.


Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two (2) years of the non-supervisory experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid Texas Driver License.

This position leads and manages Austin Energy’s Occupational Health and Safety business unit. The manager will directly supervise and manage a team responsible for successful implementation of several enterprise health and safety programs tailored to Austin Energy’s mission and operations. The Manager reports to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety Services and works directly with leaders throughout the entire organization including senior executives and the General Manager.

  • This position requires that two (2) years of the related experience be in a supervisory /managerial capacity. This includes being responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

  • Managerial experience is defined as managing at least two supervisors, or one supervisor and one major program area.

  • Supervisory experience is defined as performing leadership functions to include hiring, training, performance management, disciplinary actions, recommendation for employee dismissals and program management.

Regular Work Schedule.
Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm.

This position is Exempt and will require to work additional hours outside of the regular work schedule , including nights, weekends, holidays and during emergencies.
