The Opportunity

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Compliance Technician II position. If you are looking for an opportunity to learn and grow in a dynamic work place within our product safety group, then this position is for you!

Compliance Technician I


  • Assist SEL development teams to comply with applicable industry safety, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility standards.
  • Assist SEL design teams to comply with SEL standards and guidelines for product safety, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility performance.
  • Maintain SEL laboratories to perform safety and type tests.
  • Train SEL engineers and technicians on industry standards, SEL procedures, and test equipment operation.
  • Oversee testing at offsite/outsourced test facilities.
  • Conduct type tests.
  • Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
  • Understand. Create. Simplify.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • A.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related background
  • 2+ years experience in the area of Compliance Engineering, with knowledge of UL, CE, CSA, IEEE and IEC Standards
  • Demonstrate expertise of common compliance related test equipment, test chambers and testing practices
  • Self-motivated/self-starter
  • Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures
  • Leadership knowledge and training
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of key technology trends in the Compliance Engineering field
  • Membership in appropriate professional organizations related to Compliance Engineering
  • RF Emphasis
