The Principal Storage Analyst will provide thought leadership and spearhead critical and complicated projects. As part of the SRP’s Enterprise Storage operations team, the Analyst will architect, build, support, monitor, optimize, and evolve SAN/NAS infrastructure for reliability, scalability and supportability.
Responsible for identification of requirements for hardware, software and SAN administration. Tasks include storage hardware configuration, cabling, performance enhancements, problem determination and issue resolution. Responsibilities include evaluation, implementation, and testing of storage hardware and software solutions.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
The ideal candidate will have:
In-depth experience in NetApp technologies is absolutely required. EMC experience is valued but is secondary.
6-10+ years’ technical consultancy or Enterprise operations experience with strong NetApp storage experience
5+ years’ experience as a Senior Storage engineer responsible for one or more large enterprise storage environments or service provider environments
Advanced scripting skills are desired. Competent with at least one of the following scripting languages, Python/Bash/KSH/Powershell
Advanced VMware skills from a design and integration perspective
Medium OS skills, Linux & Windows
Light database skills are preferred. Knowledge of common database (SAP HANA/Oracle/SQL/DB2) performance, backup/recovery, DR, tools, etc.
Knowledge and experience in storage management and administrative functions of both storage hardware and software, including hardware maintenance procedures, data and storage resource management, and use of software configuration and monitoring tools/products
Candidate must have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the following storage technologies including but not limited to:
NetApp Suite of Enterprise Products: NetApp FAS systems (AFF, A700, 8080, 8060) E-Series (5504), Clustered Data ONTAP, MetroCluster, OnCommand Management Suite (Unified Manager, Performance Manager, System Manager, Insight, WFA), Snapmirror, Snapvault, SVM replication, Secure Multi-Tenancy, SMSAP and SnapCenter.
EMC Suite of Enterprise Products: EMC hardware VMAX3, VPLEX, Unisphere for VMAX and VPLEX, SRDF replication and associated software products.
Brocade Suite of Enterprise Products: Brocade directors, switches and fabric management tools such as fabric OS and Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition.
Broad, senior level experience with a wide variety of operating systems and storage technologies/protocols, such as Microsoft Windows, VMware, NFS, CIFS, Linux, and Fiber Channel.
Experience with in-depth performance analysis of storage/SAN and how it relates to the hosts
Experience in high availability data center architectures and disaster recovery planning.
Must be team oriented, focused on team accomplishments and dedicated to providing the highest quality products and services which meet the needs of our clients
Capable of making good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
Advanced skills in problem analysis and creative approaches to problem solving to provide quality deliverables
Documentation skills in creating procedures, workflows and architecture diagrams. Advanced use of Visio and other system documentation tools is required
Minimum of 10 years cumulative and progressive post-degree experience
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution plus an additional 18 graduate level college credits in an area of specialty.
