Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years experience in road or utility construction.
  • Twelve (12) semester hours in Engineering Technology, Engineering, Construction Sciences or in a field related to the job, may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.

The Distribution Construction Coordinator III is responsible for coordinating, expediting, and inspecting work completed by civil contractors during the construction and/or maintenance of Austin Energy’s distribution infrastructure. This position will be also be responsible for creating work packets for distribution construction as well as all support functions of Work Management (One Calls, Traffic Control, Permitting, etc.).

GOOD STANDING COA EMPLOYEES:

TRAVEL:
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

WORK HOURS:
This position is categorized as Essential Personnel. Essential personnel are required to work during emergencies or bad weather if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled. All Essential employees ensure the continuance of key operations in order to maintain the delivery of electric service safely for the City of Austin.

Shift may change according to departmental needs.
Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends.
Additional hours may be required to work outside of regular schedule.

CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK:
The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal history background check.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT:
Non-exempt employees will be compensated for any additional hours worked when such compensation is required by law.
