Electric Transportation Specialist

Description:

Advanced Energy is a non-profit energy consulting firm. We work with electric utilities, government and a wide variety of public and private partners. Our customized services include research, testing, training, consulting and program design. This position will be part of a team at Advanced Energy that provides electric transportation consultation and problem-solving support to internal team members and the external clients, primarily electric utilities.  The ideal candidate will have relevant technical work experience with electric transportation and/or electric utilities.

Duties:

Essential Functions

Provide strategic planning services to customers, primarily electric utilities around development of electric transportation programs and adoption of electric vehicles

Help establish equipment selection and deployment guidelines for electric transportation infrastructure and analyze economic benefit

Serve as a technical lead for electric transportation and provide mentoring, training, guidance and problem-solving support to team members

Participate in research studies on a national basis, consulting with other organizations and experts

Facilitate the collaboration of electric transportation industry stakeholders

Design and develop products and services that take advantage of knowledge generated by applied research and studies

Maintain own technical professional knowledge of transportation electrification developments and trends by attending workshops and conferences, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

Provide technical assistance for deploying transportation electrification technologies in the field

Provide technical support services such as product testing and/or field studies to understand adoption barriers and enhance market penetration

Prepare reports and recommendations for further action

Develop and conduct workshops or presentations and train external clients on technology

Promote business opportunities with both new and repeat clients and clarify and evaluate technical aspects of service requests from customers

Consult or negotiate with clients and provide support to the presentation of project proposals, reports and findings to clients

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field required

A minimum of 5 years of relevant technical work experience required, preferably in the field of utility demand side management and/or beneficial electrification; 7-10 years preferred

Knowledge of electric transportation technology, energy and transportation policy, benefits and challenges, electric utility rates and economic models

Preferred experience with outreach coordination and planning

Problem solving/data interpretation skills; Strong written and oral communication skills; Ability to work in teams as well as independently; Organization skills and attention to detail; Ability to plan and deliver projects, and adhere to project budget

Commitment to excellent customer service

Position could involve up to 30% travel depending on client location
