Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:
The Facilities, Planning, and Management Department at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for an Electrician I who will apply knowledge and skills to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various electrical systems and equipment in the Utility Plant. This position is responsible for working on circuit breakers, relays, switches, wiring, conduit, receptacles, magnetic starters and controls, electric motors, transformers, generators, lights, fixtures, and motor control systems and meters. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in electrical/electronic theory, terminology, and practices, and NEC Code. This position also requires reading and interpretation of blueprints and schematic or block diagrams; use of basic hand and power tools; use of electrical and electronic equipment; and operation of light and medium vehicles and machinery.
Requires State of Iowa Class A or B Journeyman licenses. Must possess a valid driver's license and meet Univeristy's Fleet Safety Program.
-Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing Utility electrical systems.
-Experience testing motor, cables, breakers and other Utility electrical system equipment.
-Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing Uninterruptible Power System equipment (batteries, chargers, inverters, etc.)
-Experience working electrical maintenance in utility plant or process plant environment.
Candidates whose qualifications substantially exceed the minimum required qualifications relative to the demands of the position may, upon the request of an employing department, be appointed at a higher rate of pay than the entry hourly rate.
