Energy and Demand Forecasting Consultant

Works with minimal supervision.  Develops the company’s economic and energy demand forecasts.  Performs highly complex research and studies on topics such as economic, load, and revenue forecasting.  Other topics may include cost analysis, budgeting, financial modeling, financial targets and financial and expense comparisons.  Conducts ad-hoc analysis to meet business needs.  Prepares detailed reports of findings and recommendations to Management, routinely interfacing with Senior Management and occasionally with Officers. Supports and/or leads strategic planning and analysis.  Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.




  • Performs a variety of highly complex analyses and reporting to provide ongoing information, compiles relevant information, makes comparisons and evaluates results.  Prepares a variety of highly complex financial data, information and studies in a clear, concise format.
  • Develops department strategies and financial models to accurately reflect impacts of new regulations and market events on the Company's financial performance.
  • Administers and/or designs department programs / plans by maintaining expert knowledge of each and preparing ongoing analyses of specific topics.
  • Ensures compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records or systems.
  • Provide variety of highly complex analyses and resolution of cost issues based on current industry standards.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of the primary emerging issues facing the industry and company business specifics.
  • Develops expert understanding of company, unit policies and procedures, accounting practices, and federal and state regulations.
  • Provides support to other team members to enhance development and productivity.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting with 5 years (preferred 2 years of electric-utility experience) experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Advanced degree in Economics highly preferred.
  • Expertise in finance or economic analysis, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and income tax laws.
  • Excellent research and effective communication skills a must.
  • Excellent word processing and spreadsheet skills.


Preferred Skills:


  • Demonstrated ability to produce complex economic forecasts and knowledge of factors that drive energy usage.  Experience with SAS strongly preferred.
