Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL – Energy's Sustainable Energy Use Program Design and Implementation group is seeking an Energy Engineer to join our Business Services team, which provides support to our energy efficiency implementation programs across the United States. This position will work in support of AEP Ohio sponsored programs that encourage energy efficiency in commercial, industrial, schools and government buildings. This position is based out of our Columbus, Ohio office.

 


Tasks May Include

 

  • Review and verify technical merits of business customer energy efficiency applications, including determination of baseline usage for industrial equipment, calculation of energy savings and verification of equipment specifications
  • Conduct customer site inspections to verify the installation of energy efficient equipment at Utility commercial and industrial businesses
  • Interact with customers to address questions or concerns about the installed equipment or program information
  • Conduct facility walk-throughs to identify energy efficiency opportunities and generate corresponding energy report
  • Independently perform site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of complex energy efficiency projects involving HVAC, lighting and industrial process equipment, such as pumps, motors, fans and compressed air systems
  • Independently performs building energy use analysis using simulation tools such as eQuest, Trane Trace and HAP
  • Conduct program presentations to inform customers of energy service offering
  • Make recommendations of new measures for internal purposes
  • Project management support
  • Database management support

 

Position Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in energy efficiency or related field
  • Familiarity with lighting standards, technologies and controls
  • Advanced knowledge of energy market and industry standards, trends, and technologies
  • Knowledge of Energy codes and standards (IECC, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Knowledge of end-use metering instrumentation extremely desirable
  • Experience with energy auditing ASHRAE levels 1, 2 and 3
  • Intermediate level in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access is required
  • Technical writing experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 25% of the time (out of state traveling)
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Must be able to meet the requirements to drive for company business
  • Routine bending, lifting, and reaching consistent with office work
    Ability to conduct site inspections (i.e. ladder climbing for roof access, etc.)
  • Must be able to prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proactively seeks to identify real customer needs and manages customer expectations accordingly
  • A positive, collaborative and team-oriented attitude
  • Excellent English communication (both verbal and written), customer service /phone, organization and grammar skills are essential
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
