About The Position

The Engineer - Connection Agreements position is responsible for the preparation and administration of interconnection, interchange, construction and other agreements between Ameren’s operating companies, interconnected utilities, wholesale generation and large load customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop new or modify existing interconnection, interchange, construction and other agreements with neighboring utilities relating to the interconnecting transmission and distribution lines of Ameren’s operating companies.
  • Understand the Planning, Design and Operations of the Ameren Transmission and Distribution system.
  • Understand and implement the Midcontinent ISO (MISO) generation interconnection process.
  • Maintain active contact with customers connected to or planning connections with the Transmission and Distribution systems. 
  • Participate in local and regional meetings representing Ameren on contractual issues relating to interconnection, interchange, construction and other agreements.
  • Provide contractual technical support to various company personnel with regard to Ameren’s interconnection, interchange, construction and other agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
  • Three or more years of relevant utility industry experience preferably in engineering or regulatory areas preferred.
  • Experience with writing contractual agreements preferred.
  • Experience with negotiating contractual agreements preferred.
  • Knowledge or background in electric transmission design, engineering or planning is preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required. Effective writing skills, communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills. Regulatory knowledge with state public service commissions, MISO and FERC is beneficial. The Engineer- Connection Agreements works a standard day shift in an office environment with occasional trips to generating plans or the field. Also includes potentially unusual working conditions, shifts, travel, overtime, callouts, etc.
