This position is a member of Georgia System Operations Corporation's (GSOC's) Security Operations department and is responsible for ensuring the cyber security of programmable electronic devices and networks that make up GSOC and Georgia Transmission Corporation's (GTC's) digital operations infrastructure. Performs duties related to ensuring that the systems and networks used for operations are managed securely and in compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards. Supports and implements GSOC’s physical and cyber security programs including projects related to the security of the digital operations infrastructure and NERC CIP Compliance. Identifies and implements innovative uses of security technologies that enable smooth business and operations activities. Responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, corporate policies, guidelines and procedures, including but not limited to, RUS, OSHA, NERC, FERC and ITS requirements. Promotes an environment of compliance and continuous improvement to meet the Corporation’s goals and objectives.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Engineer I - 0 to 24 months work experience in a cyber security, information assurance, or related position. Experience configuring, and analyzing local and wide area networks, intranets, extranets, and IP addressing. Experience performing system hardening, patch management, and configuration management. Experience designing, programming, or analyzing computer architectures and operating systems.
Engineer II - Three (3) plus years work experience and the experience described above.
Senior Engineer - Six (6) plus years work experience and the experience described above.
Engineer I - Eight (8) years of direct electric utility experience with significant responsibilities related to security operations, such as Security Patch Management, Configuration Management, Firewall Management, Disaster Recovery, Incident Management, and Information Management.
Engineer II - Eleven (11) plus years of direct electric utility experience and the experience described above.
Senior Engineer - Fourteen (14) plus years of direct electric utility experience and the experience described above.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
CISSP desired, not required
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.):
Experience in project management in application development related projects and knowledge of MS Project is desirable. Excellent organizational skills and customer/ team communications skills are needed to be successful. Must have strong verbal and written communication and leadership skills. Promotes an environment of compliance and continuous improvement.
Must be able to pass NERC CIP PRA (Personal Risk Assessment) screening.
