Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a motivated, professional, innovative and detail oriented individual for our Engineering Intern position located in Pullman, WA. The ideal candidate is available to work part time during the school year and full time during the summer. Candidate would be expected to support R&D Product Engineers working with internal and external customers.
Specific areas of focus for this position:
3 phase power system protection, automation, and control
Hands on Protective Relay testing
Working with R&D team members on a variety of products and protection applications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide technical support to SEL staff & customers.
2. Develop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.
3. Support Product Engineers.
4. Document and communicate test results.
5. Work with SoCs.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems
Practical knowledge of DC and AC electrical components and their application
VHDL, Verilog, or other RTL language experience.
Ability to use MS Windows and serial port terminal emulation software
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
