This is why we have environmental policies and programs in place at both the corporate and local levels to avoid and minimize these impacts and to address any remaining impacts through appropriate mitigation measures. As a member of the NextEra Energy wildlife team, you will face different challenges every day, some of which will be extraordinarily complex. Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science, MBA or PhD preferred

Sound statistical acumen, interpretation, and analytical ability

Working knowledge of ArcGIS  

Strong understanding of the Endangered Species Act and Section 10 and Section 7 permitting, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, as well as state regulations

Ability to maintain professional relationships with diverse groups including operation staff, developers, other industry representatives, NGO stakeholders, agency personnel and consultants

Proficient at interacting with public and local elected officials at open houses, local zoning meetings or during other outreach events

Experience with review of consultant work related to wildlife for wind, solar, transmission, and/or gas infrastructure projects

Assist with strategy for risk management of protected animals, plants, and habitat (avoidance, minimization and mitigation)

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time; often on short notice.

  • Assists with development of strategy and communicate environmental requirements to management
