Financial Analyst I / II

Arizona Public Service has an opportunity for a Financial Analyst I/II who will with ongoing supervision, assists or conducts a variety of basic financial or economic analysis projects or functions. Performs a variety of routine research and studies on topics that may include economic, load, and revenue forecasting.  Other topics may include revenue and cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, corporate finance, cash management, financial targets and financial and expense comparisons. Prepares routine reports of findings and recommendations to more senior financial analysts or appropriate Manager. Supports strategic planning and analysis.  Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other personnel in the section or group.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs routine analyses and reporting to provide ongoing information, compiles relevant information, makes comparisons and evaluates results. Prepares a variety of routine financial data, information and studies in a clear, concise format.
  • Assists in the development of department strategies and financial models to accurately reflect impacts of new regulations and market events on the Company's financial performance.
  • Assist in administering department programs / plans by maintaining basic knowledge of each and preparing ongoing analyses of specific topics.
  • Ensures compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records or systems.
  • Provide analysis and resolution of cost issues based on current industry standards.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of the primary emerging issues facing the industry and company business specifics.
  • Develops basic understanding of company, unit policies and procedures, accounting practices, and federal and state regulations.
  • Provides support to other team members to enhance development and productivity.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Financial Analyst I:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. MBA, MS in Finance or CPA certification preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of finance or economic analysis, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and income tax laws.
  • Good research and effective communication skills a must.
  • Good word processing and spreadsheet skills. Time constraints, scope and complexity are commensurate with the beginning level.
  • This position may rotate through various areas of Accounting and Finance prior to permanent assignment.

 

Financial Analyst II:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting with two (2) years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • MBA, MS in Finance or CPA certification preferred.
  • Frequent use and general knowledge of finance or economic analysis,
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and income tax laws.
  • Good research and effective communication skills a must. Good word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Preferred Skills: Advanced Degree in Economics or a CPA
