The Advanced Test Reactor Complex (ATR) is seeking candidates for Fitter. General responsibilities include:
The responsibilities of this classification include performing journeyman maintenance/installation of piping, plumbing and tubing systems, and components. All tasks that may be performed by this classification are not contained in this standard. Specific Duty Areas:1.Troubleshoot piping and tubing systems and components2.Repair/maintain piping and tubing systesm and components3.Install piping and tubing systems and components4.Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on piping and tubing systems and components.
Requirements:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 5 years related experience OR recognized trade apprenticeship and 2 years related experience OR 2 years Vocational Training and 3 years related experience.
Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOE "L" security clearance
Essential Knowledge Areas:Basic piping, plumbing, and tubing design and theory; standard trade techniques and requirements; craft-specific tools and materials; appropriate tools and materials; work control requirements; general safety and personal protective equipment requirements; compliance with Industrial Safety Requirements; hazardous material, supplies, and disposal of waste streams; ASME pressure vessel, relief valve, and instrument inspections.
Essential Skill Areas:Skill in reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and other technical documents; Locate and requisition spare parts from the warehouse; Skill in using the tools and equipment associated with the trade; Skill in troubleshooting methodsand techniques; Repair pluming,piping, tubing, and valve leaks and obsturction joints, and flanges for welding -Weld plastic and steel piping and fittings - Hydro test piping and tubing systems; Install Swedge Lock tub fittings - Make gaskets - Torque companion flanges - Sterilize piping -Repack valves; Connect/disconnect pumps -Bend piping and tubing; Skill in installing piping, plumbing, and tubing systems and components; Skill in reading and interpreting testing and measurement equipment; Skill in modification, design, repair, and maintenance of plumping,piping, and tubing related systems and components; Roto/Flow meters-Rupture discs-Hangers/snubbers-Sight glasses; Orifice flanges-Acid lines-Swamp coolers-Sample stations; Valves-Vacuum breakers-Lab fixtures-Sinks/toilets; Drinking fountains-Strainers/drains-"P" traps-Water softeners; Lab hoods-Water stills-Fire hydrants-Air dryers; Heat exchangers-Lawn sprinklers-Safety showers/eye was; Fire system flappers; Hot water heaters-Bcak flow prevention devices-Valve box reach rod; Urinals; Skills associated with pressurized system leak checking and hyrostatic testing.
