Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with at least two (2) years of engineering experience.
This position will provide technical consulting services for the Green Building
Evaluation and Development group which supports the Austin Energy Green
Building (AEGB) commercial and residential groups and the incentive
program incorporating energy modeling for Customer Energy Solutions
(CES) to meet the goals for demand and energy savings. The person in this
• Review and approve client energy models submitted for AEGB ratings and
the AE Integrated Modeling Incentive program to confirm energy and peak
• Research and develop procedures and tools for building and reviewing
• Build energy simulation models for AEGB rated projects that have no client
model to confirm energy and peak demand savings.
• Build energy simulation models to quantify energy and demand savings
from adoption of new energy codes and new AEGB rating systems based on
the adopted energy code.
• Develop and monitor the measurement and verification criteria and process
for projects reported through the AEGB rating and AE modeling incentive
• Provide technical consulting to project teams and consultants.

• Knowledge of the ASHRAE 90.1 Performance Rating Method and the City
of Austin Energy Code.
• Knowledge of building systems (e.g. HVAC, Lighting, Water, Envelope).
• Experience in using energy modeling software applications (e.g. BEopt,
OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, eQuest).
• Graduate degree in field relating to building energy studies such as
Architectural Engineering with major in Building Science and Technology,
Building Energy and Environments or similar.
• Knowledge of the International Performance Measurement and Verification
