Responsible for National or international authority. Demonstrated mastery in the field of safety engineering and has an in depth understanding of the application of OSHA, NFPA, DOE, ANSI standards, orders and regulations. This individual is an authority in safety engineering and demonstrates this by applying advanced or highly complex safety engineering concepts and techniques on assigned tasks. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the development of industrial safety programs, serving as the AHJ, advice management on the interpretation of codes, serve on external committees and boards. Provide mentorship of industrial safety staff, provides engineering and peer review of safety engineering judgments and documents, and serves as a lead in programmatic development. Actions will be taken by this individual to networks externally with other national laboratories and consensus organizations, seek to participate on or lead Laboratory teams and influence operations and research. Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education and/or Experience):
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Safety or safety related field plus 8 relevant years’ experience, or Masters of Science in Industrial Safety or safety related field and 6 years’ experience or PhD and 4 years’ experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Must be able to meet minimum Qualifications in STD-14101 for a safety professional.

Special Requirements and/or Training:
Capable of functioning as the Industrial Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) within 6 months. This position requires a high level of training and experience in the implementation of 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, 10 CFR 851, NFPA 70 E, ANSI safety standards applicable to the INL. Requires functional understanding of explosive safety, and DOE Orders. Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and teamwork skills. Nuclear experience is preferred.

License(s) or Certification(s):
Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
