IT Business Planning Program Lead

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) works to make the power grid smarter by developing and deploying innovative information technology solutions to meet New York’s dynamic energy needs.  The NYISO’s Information Technology department invites applications for a full-time IT Business Planning Program Lead.

The IT Business Planning Program Lead performs and leads a range of activities that collectively improves planning and the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Information Technology organization. These activities involve providing leadership and management for all aspects of the IT business planning cycle, including IT strategy alignment, financial forecasting and budgeting, project planning and support, resource and workload planning and risk management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the IT Leadership Team to support the development of IT strategies and ensure financial and operational alignment with tactical plans.  
  • Coordinates and manages cross-functional teams within and outside of IT to improve IT business planning, project planning and operations methods.
  • Develop programs to track and manage technology budgets, forecasts and expenditures.  
  • Support internal audit activities, as required, to ensure timely and accurate response to requests, effective planning and allocation of resources to audits, and ongoing oversight of controls and artifacts. 
  • Oversee asset management programs and ensure effective governance of technology resources.
  • Works with Procurement and Legal to develop and oversee vendor management activities within IT. 

Serve as a focal point for management and coordination of IT cost accounting and the Enterprise Cost Management program.  

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field. MS/MBA preferred. 
  • Ten years progressive experience in Information Technology with relevant experience in managing technology business support functions, leadership and demonstrated business acumen. .  Must demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience with technology and/or financial management in an enterprise IT organization.
  • ITIL, PMP, ISO and/or COBIT certifications are a plus
