We have a great opportunity for a New Grad to join a dynamic, collaborative IT Real Time Systems SCADA Support Team with Eversource Energy at our corporate headquarters in Berlin, CT.  The IT Systems Engineer position participates in the development, testing, implementation, coordination, maintenance and support of IT systems and applications in support of Electric and Gas Distribution Operations at Eversource Energy.

  • Plan, design, develop, test, coordinate, implement, maintain and administer computer-based systems and applications, primarily related to Electric and Gas SCADA Systems.
  • Analyze business/technical and related issues to formulate and develop or purchase new and/or modified computer programs/systems.
  • Create revisions to existing programs, systems and procedures and use appropriate tools to troubleshoot and correct deficiencies.
  • Reconcile user requirements with existing and/or projected computer capacity, capabilities and performance.
  • Coordinate/work with external support vendors to support critical SCADA real-time systems.
  • Installation/testing of security patches, O/S updates/upgrades, applications software updates/upgrades.
  • Responding to, analyzing, troubleshooting, resolving system issues associated with SCADA systems.
  • Participating in projects to replace/upgrade critical real-time SCADA systems.
  • Working closely with key business partners and developing solid, customer-focused relationships.
  • Developing core competencies/skills related to SCADA application/software/system support.
  • Developing basic fundamentals related to server/workstation operating systems/environments
    • (i.e. Windows Server 2008/2012, Windows 7/Windows 10).

Technical Knowledge/Skill: Experience in real-time operations systems support in the Utility industry is desired. Experience with distributed technologies, relational databases and knowledge of infrastructure technology (servers, workstations, IT security, etc.) is preferred. Experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Systems is a plus.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required.

Experience:   Entry Level 1 position must have the minimum education pre-requisites.  Strong analytical skills required for all positions. The successful candidate must be able to work well in a team environment, possess solid oral/written communication skills and have a strong desire to learn and apply new skills.
