ITSM Process Manager (Asset Management)

The IT Service Management (ITSM) Process Manager manages the analysis, planning, technical direction, organizing, and implementation of the ITSM initiatives; helps define the continuing evolution of IT to meet the changing business needs of the enterprise; works with business line personnel in integrating ITSM methods and practices throughout IT; researches and promotes best practices to process change; and reports the progress and impact of efforts to leadership

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provides ITSM oversight and management for one or more processes within a given service lifecycle stage.
  • Will oversee and direct process discipline and continuous improvement across the ITSM service landscape for the entire IT function.
  • Implement and maintain an effective performance metrics program to process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Make timely decisions based on operational performance and benchmark data to ensure objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Understand and maintain policy, procedures, and metrics associated with a specific ITISM process
  • Report the progress and impact of efforts to leadership.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Ameren core business processes to allow for the effective application of practical solutions and efficiency opportunities.
  • Successfully partner with all levels of the IT organization and Lean Continuous Improvement Teams.

Asset Management (Role)

  • Partner with stakeholders within the organization to develop and maintain processes, policies, standards, systems and measurements to effectively manage within the organization its Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) software and hardware asset portfolio.  The scope of this includes cost, control, risk, compliance, business performance objectives, and governance as established by the company and industry.  Stakeholders include all company departments involved with IT assets, including the finance, procurement, deployment, expense reporting, and management departments.
  • Design and implement standardized asset management models and workflows and ensures adherence to them.
  • Accountable for the daily and long term operational management of the asset management process. In conjunction with the process owner role defines and manages strategic direction and roadmap. 
  • Ensure quality control throughout the lifecycle of all company IT assets by developing and implementing appropriate procedures to track and manage them.
  • Execute effective planning and monitoring of hardware assets and software licenses to comply with vendor contracts.
  • Utilize integrated software solutions that connect and standardize all company departments and asset repositories. Apply and integrate appropriate tools to manage, monitor, and report on IT and OT assets and inventory.  Ensure automation is implemented where applicable to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Provide KPI/Metric information and standardized reporting on a scheduled basis together with unscheduled reporting demanded by management
  • Define and enhance scheme for identifying hardware and software-related assets as well as CIs, including versioning and dependencies in the asset management tools, attributes, the Contract management library, and the CMDB.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach in enhancing the strategies employed in technology spending, as well as in tracking company assets within the Configuration Management System.
  • Generate and distribute various reports, including compliance reports on current assets and CIs and their status; also perform trend analyses.
  • Participate in other ITSM processes, or as required perform as a back up to maintain operational activities.
  • Collaborate with teams to determine trends in asset performance.
  • Perform research on industry best practice and incorporate it with organizational practices.


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University required.  Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., engineering, computer science, business) preferred.  Consideration may be given to candidates with extensive related experience without the academic requirements.  Seven or more years of technical experience in Information Technology required.  Five or more years of experience in facilitating and leading continuous/service improvement efforts preferred.  IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations certification required.  An IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) ITSM service lifecycle certification required within 6 months.  Failure to achieve certificate will result in disqualification.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Understanding of utility field operations and the IT solutions deployed to support and sustain those operations preferred.  Strong project management and project leadership skills preferred.  Skills in business process analysis preferred.  Specific experience in organizational change management preferred.  Basic knowledge of continuous improvement techniques preferred.  Understanding of energy utility systems and operations preferred.
