Outreach Professional - Energy Efficiency (Midstream)

Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL - Energy's Sustainable Energy Use is seeking an Outreach Professional to join our Program Development and Implementation (PDI) team to support our Midstream program known as the Business Instant Discount Program (BIDP). The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the BIDP program to include new distributors and manufacturers as well as promoting the program to strategic business customers. This candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that our distributor and manufacturing partners, as well as our business customers, are satisfied with their experience in the BIDP program.


Tasks May Include

  • Promote and sell the BIDP program by identifying and managing opportunities with targeted distributors and manufacturers
  • Responsible for energy efficiency project forecasting and planning and tracking in an effective manner by consistently building and delivering an accurate opportunity pipeline
  • Actively engage with the Outreach team and other colleagues, sharing knowledge and ideas in support of innovation and customer success
  • Supporting and promoting established relationships with industry partners to maximize energy efficiency project implementation and sustain a leading position in the market
  • Use the CRM tool to manage and record all stages of the energy efficiency project implementation cycle
  • Other sales and business development activities as required, in support of program strategies and goals
  • Managing field time effectively with distributor customer or Trade Ally visits
  • Responding to distributor customer inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically or in person to move projects towards completion
  • When required, provide written summary reports directly to the distributor, and summary reports to the client/Program Manager
  • Build quick rapport with distributors and quickly initiate conversations with customers on site regarding energy usage at the facility
  • Travel to existing and potentially new partners to promote the BIDP program and to deliver any needed support items for the program
  • Training existing and new partners the online tool for transaction submissions and customer eligibility
Position Qualifications

Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, required
    • Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in the electric or natural gas utility industry, facilities management, HVAC design and/or sales, commercial and industrial lighting, or conservation and energy management preferred
    • HVAC and/or electrical sales experience a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time within Michigan
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
    • Strong public speaking and presentation skills to a variety of audience sizes
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • We conduct pre-employment background and drug screening
