Power Plant Equipment & Combustion Specialist

Position Description:

Power Plant Equipment & Combustion Specialists work with engineers and other technicians in power plants performing a variety of tests, equipment inspections and technical direction/supervision of equipment being installed, repaired or modified. Field testing would include but not be limited to coal pulverizer testing, identification of combustion air and fuel inputs, airflow distribution, temperature mapping, system leakage and emissions testing using specialized instruments on large electric utility boilers. Work in the field is followed by an equal amount of time in our office preparing technical reports, analyzing data and calibrating/repairing field testing equipment and instruments. ICT is a performance based company. As knowledge and responsibilities increase so does base rate of pay, depending on the ability and success of the individual. Extensive travel is required. A minimum of 50% of the time is spent in the field with the remaining time devoted to lab/analytical tasks, entering and checking data, equipment maintenance, preparing for field service jobs, and other duties in our Pelham office.


  • Minimum education requirements of an Associate’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree and-or equivalent technical training gained through work experience and/or military service.
  • Strong technical, mechanical, and computer skills (proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong math skills for analysis of field-testing data
  • General knowledge and understanding of pressure/temperature transmitters, basic electric systems and other instrumentation and control devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret PI&Ds and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent physical condition and willing to work in physically demanding environments (high temperatures, loud, dusty, etc.)
  • Experience working in a power plant or similar environment.
  • Available to travel extensively throughout the United States and abroad (up to 50% of the time)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record: NO tickets, NO accidents. Clean Background. Drug Free
