Power System Engineer

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience related to engineering.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:

    • None.

Power System Engineer Senior

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, plus seven (7) years of experience related to engineering.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, the ability to obtain a Texas PE license within one (1) year of employment.

Power System Engineer OR Power System Engineer Sr

This position will report to the Program Manager, Distributed Energy Resources in the Advanced Technology workgroup under Smart Grid and System Operations. This engineer will play a key role in Austin Energy’s DER roadmap with a focus on grid-scale battery storage systems. This position will coordinate between internal Austin Energy departments and external vendors. This position will work in an office and field setting.

ASSESSMENTS:
Candidates selected for interview(s) may be required to complete an assessment(s) approved by Municipal Civil Service process, Rule 4.

This position must travel between various locations to meet with vendors as part of the regular job duties.

Exempt employees are salaried employees and, except as provided, are not eligible for overtime compensation.

Pay Range

PSE: $34.80 – $47.43

PSE Sr: $39.07 – $54.28

Hours

Monday – Friday
8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

Shift may change according to departmental needs.

Additional hours may be required to work outside of regular schedule.
