Predictive Maintenance I-II-III

Use Predictive Maintenance technologies to monitor, diagnose, and analyze equipment condition in order to minimize maintenance costs while maximizing equipment performance and system reliability and capability.

Essential Functions
* Collection and analysis of data to optimize safe, cost effective operation and/or maintenance of equipment.
* Evaluation of the condition of operating equipment by condition monitoring.
* Maintain current and accurate trending database for legal and historical purposes.
* Recommend equipment needs and write Job Orders for corrective maintenance on monitored equipment.
* Recommend changes in equipment monitoring frequency.
* Maximize equipment life expectancy through input/participation into root cause failure analysis, modification recommendations, and standardized PM/PdM maintenance procedures.
* Utilize electronic equipment, including c omputers.
* Provide detailed reports, trend information and graphs to the Predictive Maintenance Supervisor and appropriate department supervisor and/or manager.
* Provide PdM schedules to appropriate personnel.
* Coordinate activities to maintain equipment at peak operating condition.
* Perform or assist in machinery balancing and alignment
* Report any plant equipment defect noted (whether or not the equipment is monitored by the PdM program) to Operations and the PdM supervisor.
* Evaluate new and emerging information, materials and equipment in predictive/preventative maintenance technologies.
* Develop acceptance testing procedures and perform acceptance testing on new or rebuilt equipment.
* Advise and/or assist plant operating and maintenance personnel during equipment maintenance.
* Advise and/or assist plant contractor personnel during plant monitoring systems installation or equipment maintenance.
* Have prompt and regular attendance.
* Must be able to access all necessary equipment.
* Must be able to climb all types of ladders.
* Assigns daily work tasks and directs personnel assigned to him/her in support of assigned projects as well as emergency maintenance requirements. Reference Steps II and III of the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities section of this job description.
* Provide on-the-job training in predictive maintenance technologies and techniques as needed to other departments as directed by the PdM supervisor. Reference Steps II and III of the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities section of this job description.
* Provide support in balancing and aligning rotating equipment to craftsmen in other departments as directed by the PdM supervisor. Reference Steps II and III of the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities section of this job description.

* Provides feedback to coworkers, contractors and visitors on both safe and at-risk practices.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
* Graduation from a standard High School or an equivalency diploma issued by a State Department of Education or by the United States Armed Forces Institute. Additional training and/or formal education or equivalent work experience in a pred ictive maintenance technology is required. See NOTE in the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Section of this Job Description for definition of Predictive Maintenance Technology.
* Requires ten years experience in process plants or power plants with eight years experience as a journeyman in a maintenance or operations craft or equivalent. Must be competent with a personal computer.
* Must possess a working knowledge of process plants or power plant systems, equipment and procedures which relate to their maintenance and operation. Must possess a working knowledge of collecting, imputing and analyzing data and maintaining a computerized predictive maintenance program.
* Must be able to interpret equipment condition trends, history and operational data in order to take a proactive approach to analyzing equipment problems.
* Must be effective in written and verbal communication skills.
* Must be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in a manner tha t will generate effective and efficient work performance by himself/herself and/or others.
* Must be able to work from drawings, schematics and specifications.
* Must exhibit an ability to perform, lead and instruct crew members in skilled operations and to assume a high degree of responsibility.
* Must have a good knowledge regarding all safety procedures, regulations and guidelines.
* Must be alert, resourceful and capable of making correct decisions under extreme conditions.

Step 1
Assist with basic vibration data collection, oil sampling, infrared thermography scans and other predictive maintenance technologies (see note below) as required. Be familiar with the PdM Department software and hardware or equivalents, to include loading and downloading routes, entering case histories, accessing stored data and printing specific reports.

NOTE:
Predictive maintenance technologies (PdM technologies) are defined as vibration analysis, oil analysis, therm ography, motor current analysis, ultrasonics, or any future technologies adopted for use by SECI's Predictive Maintenance Department.

Step 2
1. Must meet Step I qualifications.
2. Have Level I certifications or equivalent in three PdM (Predictive Maintenance) technologies or,
3. Have Level II certification or equivalent in one PdM technology and Level I certification or equivalent in an additional PdM technology.
4. Must be proficient at PdM database setup and management, equipment setup for associated PdM technology data collection, data collection and analysis, and report creation.
5. Must be able to perform specific job duties for a secondary PdM technology.
6. Oversees assigned personnel per section Other Functions.

Step 3
1. Must meet Step 2 qualifications.
2. Have Level II certification or equivalent in one PdM technology and Level I certification or equivalent in two additional PdM technologies or,
3. Have Leve l III certification or equivalent in one PdM technology and Level I certification or equivalent in an additional PdM technology.
4. Must be capable of determining testing procedures, performing adequate tests, completing in-depth analysis, and providing information to support requests for corrective action or equipment modification.

Working Conditions
While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Must be able to follow established protective measures including, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to work in all areas of the plant and grounds. Exposure to extreme temperature, dust and noise may require special devices, equipment and clothing. Must be willing to work extra hours when necessary and call- outs other than scheduled hours or days. Must be able to perform physical labor as required. Must be able to enter vessels through appropri ate access openings. Must be able to be fitted and wear a negative pressure breathing apparatus. Must be able to lift objects on occasion up to fifty (50) pounds.
