Project Controller

Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL – Energy North America Finance group is seeking a Project Controller to join our Finance team.  This position is based out of our Katy, TX office.


Tasks may include:

  • Act as business partner for Project and Line Managers by leading regular financial reviews of projects
  • Lead to Contract (L2C) review of project documents, Project setup, administration and maintenance of project financial records, contract add-ons/changes updated into Oracle on a timely basis
  • Billing according to customer contract and Project Manager requests
  • Mapping of project risk
  • Responsible for project revenue and expense-side financials, primarily WIP, AR, progress and expenses
  • Provide financial project reports and project KPIs and report information to department managers and BU and regional controller
  • Monitor, report and advise on project financial status
  • Support and facilitate communication and actions among peers
  • Maintain and develop needed excel reports
  • Ensure compliance with DNVGL Management System (DMS)
  • Special projects as determined by Business Controller
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree within finance, accounting or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of ERP project module experience (project control and billing)
  • Minimum 3 years of business partner experience with Project Managers and Line Managers
  • Professional services industry experience an advantage
  • Quality driven and always looking for improvement opportunities
  • Highly motivated and energetic
  • Extensive knowledge in the Project Module – Oracle Finance
  • Excellent experience with building reports in Excel
  • Knowledge of Power BI preferred 
  • Deep knowledge of the Period End Close (PEC) process required
  • Solid knowledge of project management and project accounting
  • Advanced user skills in Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Solid understanding of financial management of projects
  • Refined customer care skills: relationship-building, listening, “can do” attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Structured work approach
  • Outstanding team building skills
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
