Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Engineering Services (SEL-ES) seeks a Relay Commissioning Technician who wishes to work in a fast paced and ever changing high tech environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
SEL representative overseeing installation, commissioning and start-up of electrical power systems. Perform maintenance and acceptance testing of electrical power system equipment.
Perform installation and retrofitting of existing relay systems. This includes functional checkout of this equipment prior to energization.
Operate under general supervision and provide technical assistance to lower level technicians.
Write and/or conduct tests in support of department objectives.
Provide support to engineering staff and management as needed.
Continues to develop and maintain a basic level of expertise in the detail design practices of SEL protection and automation systems.
Demonstrates the ability to follow specific instructions under the technical supervision of an engineer or technician specialist.
Work in a safe, healthful and environmentally sound manner, report accidents and unsafe conditions promptly, and perform ergonomic exercises to reduce likelihood of injuries.

Associate's degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience/military school training
0 - 2 plus years of experience providing technical service and/or engineering support in an engineering environment
Working knowledge of industrial and utility practices
Familiarity with modern test equipment
Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
Willing to travel as needed.
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Ability to write automated test plans for testing protective devices
