In this role you will lead product and system specifications that a multi-disciplinary team will follow to create new metering hardware and software. You will teach fundamental and advanced metering concepts to internal and external engineers worldwide. A successful candidate will have at least three years’ experience with medium-voltage or high-voltage power systems. In depth knowledge in metrology, communications, and database management are additional desired skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Manage the meter product line through its lifecycle by developing a clear roadmap that ensures SEL makes the right products at the right time.
-Contribute to product specifications, application guides, technical papers, testing, software, and literature.
-Maintain an understanding of the end user, how they use the product, and identify and evaluate product line opportunities.
-Participate in the certification of SEL products with customers or other entities.
-Share technical knowledge by developing training materials, writing application guides, presenting technical papers, and supporting standards committees.
-Create product marketing information including datasheets, flyers, advertisements, sales kits, and product presentations.
-Perform in-depth analysis and create reports on competitive product performance.
-Coordinate efforts with regional leaders to train, develop, and mentor field engineers and technical support staff.
-Work closely with Marketing and Sales to develop marketing and sales plans.
-Provide advanced technical support to field engineers, customers, and business partners.
-Assist customers, sales representatives, and application engineers in applying SEL meters through visits, demonstrations, and training courses.
-Prepare technical proposals and commercial bids.
-Assist International offices in providing ‘factory’ presence on technical matters.
-Model, teach and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

-Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
-5+ years of electric power industry experience
-Experience quoting, developing, designing, building and delivering complex metering and power quality monitoring systems and Energy Management Systems (EMS)
-Knowledge of meter and power quality standards including ANSI, IEEE, IEC, MID, and CE
-Experience developing, and mentoring engineers
-Demonstrated excellent writing, documentation, teaching, and communication skills
-Willing to travel up to 50%

-MS Degree in Engineering
-Published and presented papers at major international technical conferences
-Experience designing Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)
