Position Specific Description

This position will report to our Plant Manager at our Port Everglades Clean Energy Center located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Candidate will have to complete testing to become craft qualified in either electrical, mechanical or instrumentation and controls.  Candidate must also meet certain educational requirements.

 

Basic Accountabilities:

  1. Execute both maintenance and test activities required to prevent or limit equipment plant failure and repair that which has failed
  2. Identify and correct equipment problems prior to adverse effect on unit performance
  3. Interface with appropriate functional departments to prioritize and/or schedule work
  4. Function in the role of shift operations positions
  5. Issue necessary materials and supplies, including completion of appropriate documents
  6. Initiate and/or complete appropriate documentation for accuracy of accounting and/or equipment history
  7. Uses appropriate tooling and equipment necessary to provide and sustain a safe, clean, and productive facility

Job Overview

This power plant leadership role functions as a rotational 12 hour on-shift analyst of system and equipment functions along with implementing both long and short term solutions. The Shift Technician will also perform as a functional operator including control center operator and outside operator duties.

Required Qualifications

Candidates will be required to take and pass the MASS Test and also be Hands-On tested to demonstrate knowledge and craft skills to hold a craft specific designation in either electrical, mechanical or instrumentation & controls. The candidate must have completed the courses listed below with a passing grade of a “C” or higher from an accredited college/university or technical institute. The courses must be at least 3 credit hours with a minimum of 48 contact hours with the professor/instructor.

  4. DC Circuits
  5. AC Circuits
  6. Electronics
  7. Industrial Machines
  8. Controls / Control Systems
