WindLogics is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our team as an Operations Engineer.  The Operations Engineer will leverage data analytics expertise, technical savvy, and Six Sigma practices to drive performance improvement and innovation in the burgeoning field of IoT behind-the-meter energy devices. Specifically, the role will focus on driving excellence of WindLogics’ energy management control software, DispatchER, by monitoring performance, driving root cause analysis, relentlessly focusing on ways to improve, and providing product support to a wide variety of stakeholders.  Success in this role will depend on application of advanced methods and tools to analyze the dispatch performance of storage and load control devices to ensure financial performance that exceeds customer expectations.  It will also depend on diligent ownership of product performance and demonstration of that through effective communication with all stakeholders:  internal customers, the development team, O&M staff, and external customers.

 

Primary (Essential) Job Functions Include:

  • Designs and uses diagnostic tools to monitor asset performance
  • Conducts operational assessments and performance tracking of battery and load control devices relative to commercial obligations
  • Conducts analysis of operational dispatch relative to expected demand charge savings and other tariff-related savings and/or revenues
  • Develops techniques and processes to mitigate performance variances from predictions
  • Mines, munges, visualizes, and analyzes data using R, Python, Matlab, VB, and other software tools
  • Collaborates with WindLogics software engineering and applied math teams for root cause analysis and to drive software improvements
  • Drives technical discussions to identify improvement and optimization opportunities
  • Assists Solutions Leads in driving product design that moves the needle and unlocks value

Job Overview

Employees in this role oversee the analysis and reporting of wind plant operations. Individuals provide wind plant operational assessments for the entire fleet including applying advanced scientific methodologies to production data. This position applies analytical solutions and effectively articulates results to other business units and to executive management through risk vetting and operational committees.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides assessments of operating wind plants
  • Creates production profiles used for financial analysis and budget setting
  • Performs turbine diagnostic reviews and collaborates on root cause analysis
  • Oversees and develops techniques or process to mitigate production variances or predictions
  • Performs month-end performance reporting and collection of input data from other business units
  • Oversees all aspects of wind operations deliverables and process including Operational assessments, budget support, GenE, power curve fitting, and wind energy index
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
