Position Specific Description

Welcome to the era of Big Data and Machine Learning! At NextEra Energy, our people are our greatest assets and the PGD Engineering organization is looking for a strong Data Scientist to complement our Wind Engineering Team with the big data tools needed to support the asset management strategy for our Wind Fleet.

 

For this specific position, we are seeking a candidate that has experience in Data Science that can lever their knowledge of machine learning, optimization, statistics, and applied mathematics. Additionally, combined abilities in software engineering with a emphasis on distributed computing and data storage infrastructure (e.g. “Big Data”) to support the Wind Engineering organization with the implementation of the strategic vision of an expanding wind fleet.

 

The preferred candidate will have a Master’s Degree or higher in Engineering or a related Scientific, Mathematics or similar computational field with a strong knowledge of Math, Applied Physics or Computer Science. Heavy Linear Algebra and Statistics experience, as well as hands on experience with NLP/Cognitive based algorithms is strongly preferred.

 

The candidate will work collaboratively with NextEra Energy Resources Wind Engineering and Wind Operations.

 

This position involves developing and executing projects centered around machine learning, NLP/Cognitive models with smaller data sets, Linear Algebra, optimization, statistics, and applied mathematics. Experience using popular powerful mathematical and statistical software such as Matlab, Python, R, Minitab, RapidMiner or similar is desired.

•   Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs
•   Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field
•   Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
