Sr Training Supervisor

 About The Position

The Training Supervisor supervises, leads, and instructs journeyman/apprentice substation mechanics/electricians and other operations personnel enrolled in on-going programs.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide instruction and training on a variety of topics associated with the construction and maintenance of substations necessary for achieving skill improvements and maintaining job qualifications.

  • Plan, develop, schedule, present, and revise associated lesson plans with emphasis on the integration of safe work practices into training programs.

  • Evaluate apprentice performance for the purpose of advancement or disqualification in accordance with the terms of the apprentice agreements.

  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external customers to identify performance gaps and offer the customer potential solutions.

  • Serve as a resource to Energy Delivery Customer Operations and Safety personnel on issues related to job processes.

  • Design and develop training materials.


High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.  Five or more years' experience as a Substation Mechanic/Electrician required. Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

 In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Ameren Safety Rules, OSHA regulations, and Ameren construction standards preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Drivers License. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency relating to the following areas required: interpreting mechanical construction drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, operating schemes and philosophies, operating heavy equipment, welding/fabricating, conduit bending, trouble shooting, switching, and AC/DC theory.
  • Must also demonstrate the ability to present complex technical information, formally or informally, in a clear and concise manner.
  • After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position.
  • May be subject to callout during emergency situations. Some travel throughout Ameren’s service territory required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
