The mission of the ERCOT Summer Internship Program is to partner with students pursuing academic excellence to create opportunities that stretch learning experiences into a work environment with intellectually challenging projects and assignments. These opportunities will promote utility industry awareness, growth, and identification of top talent for future employment. The summer internship will be 40 hours a week during the summer. 

Summary of responsibilities of the Intern (include technical skills that may be utilized – technologies, etc):

  • Perform analysis of current IT Architecture and Service Delivery Processes
  • Utilize an architecture tool to formally document IT Architecture and Service Delivery Processes
  • Participate in the IT Architecture process optimization working group
  • Utilize an architecture tool to establish relationships between processes, applications and/or technologies
  • Participate in ERCOT business-domain architecture activities with the Lead Architect; assist the Lead Architect in creation of artifacts to capture current and future-state systems designs

Project Deliverables:

  • Intern will provide a set of TOGAF-based artifacts that depict the integrations and/or high-level relationships between systems, technologies and/or processes for real-world scenarios (ERCOT LOB project deliverables)
  • Intern will help to mature the ERCOT metamodel by delivering Powerpoint-based artifact outlining the proposed metamodel and viewpoint changes and justification for such changes

Desired Educational Level (Degrees earned or being sought by the Candidate)

  • Pursuing a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Junior or Senior Level Undergraduate
  • Department manager very open to considering masters or PHD applicants

Experience (if any):

  • Strong communication and analytical skills required for this position
  • (Preferred) ability to classify objects in an abstract design according to a taxonomy

Preferred Experience:

  • Candidate must demonstrate some work history or college projects tie to their area of industry preferably in computer science

Preferred work schedule of the intern:

  • 40 hours a week / Monday – Friday 8AM - 5PM
  • Must be available to work onsite in Taylor, TX – Interns will not be eligible for remote work.
  • May 26, 2020 – August 14, 2020

Our summer internship program is a paid learning experience targeting primarily for students who have a GPA of 3.0 or better and who have at least completed their sophomore year.
