The mission of the ERCOT Summer Internship Program is to partner with students pursuing academic excellence to create opportunities that stretch learning experiences into a work environment with intellectually challenging projects and assignments. These opportunities will promote utility industry awareness, growth, and identification of top talent for future employment. The summer internship is not to exceed 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating or revising ERCOT application documentation and run books
  • Creating end to end flow diagrams of ERCOT applications
  • Becoming familiar with the key performance indicators of critical applications and processes.  Learning how to capture and report on these key performance indicators.

Deliverable:

  • Design of operations dashboards using Splunk - real time representation of critical Commercial Systems production application health and performance

Required competencies or experience:

  • Basic understanding of a RDBMS, SQL, MS Windows Server, or any UNIX/Linux operating system
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Not required, but experience with any of the following would be beneficial: Apache, Java, Oracle, Splunk, scripting languages, technical writing

Education:

  • Pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or Engineering.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in an IT support role is beneficial, but not required
  • Experience with predictive analytics tools is beneficial, but not required

Preferred work schedule of the intern:

  • 40 hours a week / Monday – Friday 8AM - 5PM
  • Must be available to work onsite in Taylor – Interns will not be eligible for remote work.
  • Summer Internship will be from May 26, 2020 - August 14, 2020

Our summer internship program is a paid learning experience targeting primarily for students who have a GPA of 3.0 or better and who have at least completed their sophomore year.
