The mission of the ERCOT Summer Internship Program is to partner with students pursuing academic excellence to create opportunities that stretch learning experiences into a work environment with intellectually challenging projects and assignments. These opportunities will promote utility industry awareness, growth, and identification of top talent for future employment. The summer internship will be 40 hours a week during the summer. 

Summary of responsibilities of the Intern:

  • Create readable, maintainable and functioning code.
  • Implement feedback from Network Model Engineers personnel on a continuous basis.
  • Develop documentation for the code.

Essential Job Duties the Intern will be performing:

  • The purpose of this position is to develop applications to assist Network Model Engineers in making updates and analyzing the Network Operations Model.

Required Competencies

  • Effective communicator.
  • Skilled in one or more modern programming languages. VB or Python are preferred.
  • Familiarity in power systems analysis.
  • Detail oriented and organized.

Desired Educational Level:

  • Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate-level degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power Systems or Computer Science degree.

Preferred work schedule of the intern:

  • 40 hours a week / Monday – Friday 8AM - 5PM
  • Must be available to work onsite in Taylor, TX– Interns will not be eligible for remote work.
  • May 26, 2020 – August 14, 2020 – this will be edited with 2020 dates.

Our summer internship program is a paid learning experience targeting primarily for students who have a GPA of 3.0 or better and who have at least completed their sophomore year.
