As a subject matter expert, independently initiates, researches, investigates, plans, develops, and supports all cooperative departments by providing insight, analysis, and recommendations regarding engineering studies, system interconnections, operational procedures, and physical construction activities necessary to maintain the safe efficient reliable operation of the Cooperative’s electric system. Adheres to the SMECO Internal Compliance Program (ICP).
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited engineering college or university in an engineering discipline, with some computer, power systems engineering, and technical writing courses preferred.
Minimum four years of progressive work experience in the engineering, construction, or operations department of an electric utility or equivalent engineering consulting firm. A practical working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), electric utility system planning, engineering, construction, and operations practices, along with a demonstrated working knowledge of electric utility related and MS Office software applications are preferred.
