DNV GL – Energy division is looking for a Team Leader to manage and grow our Solar Technology Advisory business. You will lead the team in growing the business related to solar technology, on a wide range of activities for owners, developers, lenders and tax equity investors in the North American market. Services from this team are delivered to both external and internal clients. The Team Leader will provide leadership for experts in modules, inverters, racking and trackers, build plans to increase market share and revenue, increase efficiency and driving innovation. Your responsibilities will include customer relationship management, strategy development, business development, and thought leadership in solar technology.


In the renewables advisory practice at DNV GL, we increase the widespread deployment and operation of renewables to address climate change and positively impact society. This position may be based out of our Oakland, CA; San Diego, CA; Portland; Austin, TX; OR Medford, MA.

 

Tasks May Include

  • Exhibit outstanding communications skills and business acumen to ensure top-quality customer interactions.
  • Apply strong knowledge of modules, inverters and tracker technologies to drive and deliver thought leadership that advances industry sophistication on technology, design, and operations issues.
  • Deeply understand and capitalize on customer and market trends to grow service portfolio. Serve as a member of the Section’s management team and provide strategic and tactical input to guide enterprise-level decision making.
  • Take leadership role in internal innovation efforts through keen perception of customer needs, generation of service ideas and offerings, and contributions to innovation projects.
  • Execute and manage the service portfolio within the Solar Technology team, to include technical contributions, quality control, and establishment of appropriate work procedures.
  • Evaluate and monitor workloads and ensure all commitments made to internal and external customers are met, while acting as the primary team liaison.
  • Monitor and evaluate achieved results against requirements and expectations set, and make necessary corrective actions.
  • Take responsibility for the resource utilization of the team, including budgeting, resource allocation.
  • Apply customer understanding to devise value propositions and communicate these in professional proposals in order to win contracts for the team.
  • Regularly re-assess individuals’ competence level and actively support the competence and career development of employees.
  • Manage individual performance including goal-setting, coaching and dialogue, and evaluate/assess the performance of individuals.
  • Exhibit outstanding commitment to safety and quality, train and coach personnel in implementation of QHSE procedures, and emphasize importance of employee contributions to the achievement of quality objectives.
Position Qualifications

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited four year university. Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years on solar projects, selecting and evaluating modules, inverters and trackers
  • 5 years of experience in the solar industry
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team of employees and/or demonstrated leadership aptitude
  • Demonstrate experience building customer relationships and proposal writing
  • Self-starter who demonstrates the ability to work in a global, cross-functional team environment, collaborating with groups of subject matter experts in different geographies and time-zones;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate value propositions and technical concepts to customers.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
