Technical Sales Consultant

Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL - Energy's Sustainable Use Group is seeking a Technical Sales Consultant to join our team. This position is based out of our Detroit, MI office. This role is considered to be a part of the Consulting Team and as such may support both DNV GL clients and internal projects in a variety of capacities, at the discretion of DNV GL management. 

 

Tasks May Include

  • Effectively communicates with trade allies & customers
  • Leads large meetings, trainings and PR events 
  • Provides direction to junior team members
  • Under direction of manager, assigns follows up on sub-tasks to junior team members 
  • Communicates with impact, authenticity and empathy 
  • Works under tight deadlines
  • Brings competence and compliance with sales data tracking systems
  • Identifies customers’ needs within a sales context 
  • Provides logistical support for marketing/sales meetings and events
  • Provides resources and support for Trade Allies, contractors and customers 
  • Educates Trade Allies, contractors, and customers about the program
  • Explains technical information for non-technical audiences
  • Understands and appropriately applies local program policies 
  • Provides support and guidance to utility staff when educating assigned customers
Position Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 10 years of related experience
  • A minimum 2 years in customer service or sales experience required
  • Proven track of contractor sales experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, etc
  • Ability to maintain SharePoint websites
  • Ability to work with Interactive PDFs and online forms
  • Experience in energy efficiency, technical sales, B2B, or construction industry sales
  • Strong persuasive presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of local energy efficiency programs preferred
  • Ability and confidence to cold call on customers/contractors on program offerings
  • Understands the technology segments and product line for the local program
  • Working knowledge of project and lead tracking tools
  • Field knowledge of the utilities territory
  • Solid understanding of Lead Management tools and processes
  • Intermediate excel skills including, pivot tables, simple look ups and graphing
  • Willing to travel up to 80% locally
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills 
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
