Vision: INL will change the world's energy future and secure our critical infrastructure.Responsibilities The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) is seeking candidates for an Experiment Safety Engineer.
Provide evaluations and reviews to ensure that Experiments are within the allowable bounds of the TREAT Technical Specifications (TS) and Safety Analysis Report (SAR). Perform requests, development, and review of documentation as need to support execution of experiments in TREAT IAW approved procedures. Coordinate with, and provide assistance to, NS&T staff by reviewing designs and analyses and developing operating documentation and procedures. Function in the role of Experiment Coordinator by interfacing with TREAT Operations to receive experiments, conduct steady state operations, conduct transient operations, and transfer experiments for examination. The Experiment Coordinator will also interface with MFC and other fabrication and examination facilities to prepare experiments for testing operations and post irradiation examination. Provide advanced reactor engineering support to develop and apply advanced concepts and techniques in performing reactor core physics analysis using Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP), SCALE, or equivalent software. Coordinate with, and provide assistance to, TREAT Operations and Maintenance to troubleshoot, repair, and modify experiment equipment as well as support systems to optimize experiment performance and reliability.

Level 3: Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience or Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 2 years of related experience
Level 4: Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience or Master's Degree and 6 years of related experience or PhD and 4 years of related experience
Preferred degree disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) "L" security clearance
